Amato's method of torching, plying, melting, grinding and welding steel approaches the alchemical. He has the ability to endow a cold, hard and often discarded raw material with life and beauty. With an eye for simple structures and sensuous contours, Amatos work connotes a sense of power and tranquility, severity and beauty. Previous works from the artist were completed in an organic finish while Amatos newest sculptures, since 2004, are painted with vivid lacquer auto paint.
