Foster’s subject matter revolves around his usual potent mixture of whimsy, sensuality and social commentary. Previous work has focused on renderings of a number of All-American myths, depicting aging superheroes, uncouth pinups, and faceless 9 to 5ers in rumpled business suits. Recently, however, Foster’s work is increasingly focused on the female form. These latest paintings combine their familiar sense of youthful wit with an interesting stylistic mixture culled from studying the techniques of artists such as Manet, Rubens, Rembrandt, and Goya.

Foster is a native of Southern California. He graduated from the Art Center College of Design with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Illustration in 2004. His first solo show was in May of 2005 where unique style brought him instant admirers and his first sold out exhibition. Earl McGrath Gallery Los Angeles held a solo exhibition for Andrew Foster in April of 2006. He continues to live and work in Los Angeles County.
