Nature has always been the primary element in Dana Volkert’s work. She seeks to isolate and enlarge details at an almost cellular level, creating compelling abstract compositions. Dana Volkert pursues her aesthetic quest with a wide range of painterly techniques and materials. Combining oil, gold leaf and mother of pearl in elegant organic patterns that interrelate with each other, Volkert is creating an installation throughout the gallery space.

The artist’s 2004 show “Skin” at the Earl McGrath Gallery New York was Volkert’s third New York solo show. She will be making her Los Angeles, CA debut with a solo show at the Earl McGrath Gallery in October 2006. She received her bachelor’s of fine art from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1990 and currently lives and works in Middleburg, VA.
